The problem

An e-invoice is a data file, not a document

Since e-invoicing became mandatory in more and more countries, invoices arrive as XML files: XRechnung in Germany, Peppol UBL in Belgium, Factur-X in France. Accounting software reads them automatically. People see a wall of code.

Invoice Viewer turns that file back into an invoice you can read, check and pay: with the amount due at the top, the IBAN ready to copy and every line in plain language.

How it works

From XML code to a clear invoice in three steps

  1. Drop the file

Drag the .xml file or the PDF onto the box, or choose it from your computer. A ZIP with several invoices works too (Pro).

  2. Read the invoice

You see seller, buyer, lines, VAT and the amount due, laid out like a normal invoice, in your language.

  3. Pay, print or file it

Copy the IBAN and payment reference, open embedded attachments, print the invoice or save it as PDF for your records.

Your invoices stay on your device

Invoices contain business details, bank accounts and prices. That is why Invoice Viewer reads them inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded: not to us and not to anyone else. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and it still works.

We do not use tracking cookies or analytics.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open an XML invoice?

Drag the .xml file onto the box at the top of this page, or click "Choose file". The invoice appears below as a normal, readable invoice. You do not need software, an account or a plug-in.

Is my invoice uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read by your own browser. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. This page works even if you go offline after it has loaded.

Which formats does Invoice Viewer support?

XRechnung (UBL and CII), ZUGFeRD 1.0 and 2.x, Factur-X, Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, UBL 2.1 invoices and credit notes, and other EN 16931 invoices in UBL or UN/CEFACT CII syntax. For ZUGFeRD and Factur-X you can drop the PDF itself: we read the XML inside it.

Is Invoice Viewer free?

Yes. Opening and reading e-invoices is free and stays free, without limits. Pro (from €9 per month excl. VAT) adds checks, CSV export, batches and printing without our footer.

Can I save the invoice as PDF?

Yes. Click "Print / save as PDF" and choose "Save as PDF" as the printer. The free version adds a small footer line; Pro prints without it.

Does a readable view count as the original invoice?

No. For tax purposes the XML file is the original e-invoice. Keep the XML file in your records. The readable view and the PDF you print are copies for reading, paying and filing.
